Rockford IceHogs News Release

IceHogs rookie forward Robin Big Snake is making a big impression at Detroit Red Wings (NHL) rookie camp. The 6-1 winger dropped the gloves with 6-8 winger Riley Emmerson of the Minnesota Wild in a 4-1 rookie game win over the Wild on Wednesday.

The game was the first for the rookies participating in camp, which opened Monday in Traverse City, Michigan. Big Snake accumulated nine penalty minutes in the contest and finished with an even plus/minus rating in the win.

Another IceHogs rookie, Matt Gens is also participating in rookie camp this summer. Gens is skating with the Phoenix Coyotes (NHL) rookie squad as he gets ready for his first pro season in Rockford. Gens, a defenseman, attended St. Cloud State University and was a ninth round draft pick of the Vancouver Canucks in 2002.
