Two-Goal Third Ties Series at One

Providence Bruins News Release
HARTFORD, C.T. - The Providence Bruins scored twice in the third period, courtesy of Paul Carey and Alexander Khokhlachev and topped the Hartford Wolf Pack in 2-1 Game Two at the XL Center on Saturday. Each team now has one win in the best-of-five series.
Neither team scored in the opening frame despite good chances on both side during even strength and power play opportunities. Ryan Bourque had a breakaway, but held the puck for too long, giving Jeremy Smith a chance to make the save just before the halfway point of the period. Ryan Haggerty had a good look with a sliver of open net along the left wing side of the goal line, but missed on the one-time attempt. Ryan Spooner had a breakaway that was robbed by Yann Danis late in the stanza, and the Bruins held the puck in the offensive end for almost the entirety of their minute-plus man advantage.
Both teams had even more scoring oportunities in the middle period, with the home team finally getting on the board. On one rebound into the slot, the Wolf Pack had two players whiff on shot attempts. The team also had a 2-on-none that was spoiled by an offside whistle. The Bruins had two chances on the same rush, but were denied by Danis. Chris Bourque scored his first goal of the 2015 playoffs with a slap shot from the near side of the slot over Smith. The pass toward him was intended for the far side, but it was tipped to him by a Bruins defenseman. Danis robbed the Bruins again with a kick save near the near post as the last chance for either team in the period.
Carey tied the game with his first AHL Playoff goal in his first AHL Playoff game. Seth Griffith launched the puck from the left wing circle to Ryan Spooner. The Providence center zipped the puck back to the far side, and Carey deposited the puck backdoor at 2:28. It was the second power play goal of the series for the visitors.
khkokhlachev and David Pastrnak had a 2-on-1 in the offensive end because of a Pastrnak forecheck, and Khokhlachev beat Danis to give the Bruins a lead the team would not relinquish at 4:36. The Wolf Pack managed less than 0:30 of 6-on-5 time, because the team iced the puck three times in the final minute-plus, and the team managed just one shot on goal in that timeframe.
Game Three is Sunday at 7:05pm, as the P-Bruins have their first home game of the playoffs at the Dunkin Donuts Center.

#28 Paul Carey (#24 Ryan Spooner, #17 Seth Griffith, PPG)
