April 17, 2024 - The Cape Breton Eagles are looking to move on to the third round of the QMJHL playoffs for the first time since 2007, and can do just that with a win tonight in Chicoutimi against the Saguenéens. The Eagles took full control of the series last night with a 6-2 victory, giving Cape Breton a 3-0 lead. If the Eagles were to win tonight, it would be the first time in team history the club would have swept a second round series.

- Jacob Newcombe's second period hat trick helped pace the Cape Breton Eagles to a 6-2 victory over the Chicoutimi Saguenéens. With the win, the Eagles take a 3-0 lead over the Sags in their best of seven series.

In what was set to be a historic weekend of Eagles hockey at Centre 200 in Sydney, a defence-heavy Eagles squad shutdown a young Chicoutimi offence in all areas of the ice, leading to two shutout victories in front of nearly 5000 faithful in Sydney to go up 2-0 in their second round series.
